RTÉ announced earlier this week that it has secured the rights to broadcast the complete Fifa 2023 Women's World Cup next summer, when the Republic of Ireland will compete in the tournament for the first time.

The World Cup will take place from July 20-August 20 in Australia and New Zealand, with matches being held in 9 host cities. The draw Oct. 22nd placed Ireland in Group B; it will face host Australia in Sydney on July 20 (8pm local time, 11am Irish time), Canada in Perth on July 26 (8pm local time, 1pm Irish time) and Nigeria in Brisbane (8pm local time, 11am Irish time).

RTÉ gained the coverage rights for all matches as part of FIFA's arrangement with the European Broadcasting Union, which covers 28 territories and 32 member public service and national broadcasters.

RTÉ broadcast the 2019 Women's World Cup in France and the UEFA Euro 2022 in England as well as Ireland's qualifying campaign; the final qualifying match against Scotland attracted the largest ever Irish TV audience for women's soccer at 382,000.

Group Head of Sport at RTÉ Declan McBennett said in a statement: “Having been there on every step of the journey through qualification, we are delighted to be there for the ultimate destination of a women’s World Cup".

"This team have captured the imagination of generations at home and will no doubt receive a huge Irish backing from the Irish Down Under making the World Cup a thrilling experience. Across radio, television and online, RTÉ Sport will be there to reflect the endeavours of a very special group of Irish sporting talent and make sure we can all get behind our national team”.
