Tickets For Women's Champions League Final Are Sold Out

Another triumph for women's football as the Women's Champions League final between Barcelona and VFL Wolfsburg has sold out the tickets. This is the first Women's Champions League final to be sold out in 13 seasons.

The match will be played at the PSV Stadium in Eindhoven in the Netherlands on Saturday, 3 June. UEFA said that over 34 100 tickets were issued for the match - beating the attendance record for a women's football match in the Netherlands, previously set in 2019 when the Netherlands national team played Australia in front of 30 640 spectators at the same venue.

"This is the first time we have fully sold out a Women's Champions League final. And that's a few weeks in advance, which is just another sign that we have reached a new level," said Nadine Kessler, UEFA managing director of women's football.

The announcement of the sold-out Women's Champions League final follows the record-breaking crowd of 77 390 that gathered to watch the Women's FA Cup final on Sunday - the highest attendance for a domestic women's match in England.

It has been a hugely positive year for women’s football, which has continued to see a huge increase in fan interest and crowd attendance. UEFA revealed that average crowds from the last-16 stage onwards are at an all-time high of 10,800, while five of the competition’s all-time top 10 attendances have been recorded this season.

Barcelona is in the Women's Champions League final for the third straight time and the fourth in five seasons, having won the title in 2020-2021. Wolfsburg has won twice (in 2012-13 and 2013-14).

Gijs de Jong, Secretary-General of the KNVB, said: “We have wanted to host the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in the Netherlands for quite some time, so it’s great to see it happen now. And it’s even more wonderful that we will become the first sold-out final in history.

“By bringing matches like this to our country, we hope to inspire girls and women to become even more involved in football – to become a player, a coach, a board member, a referee or a fan.
