WNL: TG4 Come On Board As Clash Of The Titans Hails Peamount Outright Winners On Five Counts

The highly anticipated face-off between the top two in the Women’s National League may not have been the fireworks fest of drama and tight nature that many expected but Peamount United won’t have minded that Shelbourne just never quite got going as they now regain their place at the top of the table.

The highly anticipated face-off between the top two in the Women’s National League may not have been the fireworks fest of drama and tight nature that many expected but Peamount United won’t have minded that Shelbourne just never quite got going as they now regain their place at the top of the table.
Elsewhere Bohemians continued their run of form to pick up a 2-0 triumph against Cork City, DLR Waves got their own back on Galway WFC and Wexford Youths outclassed Treaty United at Jackman Park.

Massively reflected in this weeks’ Best XI, Bohs excelled against The Rebels at the Oscar Traynor Centre on Saturday to capture their fourth win of the season and prolong their three game unbeaten run.
It took an Erica Burke penalty to break the stalemate on the 50th minute mark, spelling out the Dublin outfit’s prevailing dominance throughout the course of the match.
Accompanied by a jaw dropping long distance Lisa Murphy goal 78 minutes Sean Byrne's ladies secured the conclusive three points and gave fuel to the fire of optimism that may be their top five drive.

DLR Waves 2-0 Galway WFC

After Galway knocked them out of the Evoke.ie FAI Cup Waves were gunning to avenge last week’s rivals and they did just that at the Belfield Bowl.
Combatting an early surge from the Westerners the home side took control of the proceedings with a Jetta Berrill wonderstrike just before the 20 minute mark.
The winger then continued her masterclass as she assisted Rachel Doyle just a few moments later to give their side some daylight in what ended up being the last tally on the scorecard.
The 2-0 fixed up two victories on the bounce for The Blues who now that they are excommunicated from a cup run will have their sole focus on trying to break into the top three standings.

Peamount United 5-0 Shelbourne

This titan encounter at PLR Park never materialised as the fixture of the year it was predicted to be as The Peas stamped out Shels’s aspirations of a title race with dexterity.
A game in hand on their Red counterparts  James O’Callaghan’s side asserted their ascendancy during the 90 minutes of action, Alannah McEvoy, Stephanie Roche, Áine O'Gorman, Lucy McCartan and Lauren Kelly all netting in what was a five star team performance when it mattered most.
Shelbourne will have been disappointed they never struck that sweet spot of tenacity usually on show with Sarah Rowe, Saoirse Noonan, Jess Ziu and co, the result seeing them leapfrogged in position and left somewhat in the dust behind the reigning champions.

Treaty United 0-4 Wexford Youths

Exemplifying consistency this year Wexford have been quietly plucking away in the background of the WNL but threw that rhetoric to the wayside this week with a 4-0 trouncing of Treaty United.
Sinead Taylor, Kylie Murphy and Ciara Rossiter all netted in just the first half before newly announced WNT squad member Aoibheann Clancy supplemented with her addition with 52 minutes gone.
Treaty United still find themselves at the basement of the league but with their next outing entailing Galway they will be hoping to make good on this Youths clash after the international break.
