The West Bromwich Albion Women have changed the color of their shorts for home games from white to navy blue because of concerns of the athletes wearing white while on their periods.

The FA National League Northern Premier Division announced the change on September 29th, and the first time the team showcased their navy shorts were in this weekend’s fixture with Brighouse Town, and will continue to be a part of their home kit for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season and beyond.

Captain Hannah George added, “It’s great that the club is supporting our change to navy shorts. Representing the club professionally and looking smart in the kit is really important to us. This change will help us to focus on our performance without added concerns or anxiety.”

The Lionesses have impacted other home kits to ensure that white shorts are not part of future home kits, so the players are comfortable during their games.

The West Brom head coach, Jenny Sugarman, expressed how well the change will impact the culture of women’s sports. The club supported the decision, which helps the staff support the athletes in every way they can

"It’s another sign of the continued integration of the women’s team across the club and recognition of a progressive and inclusive culture.”
