Irish star Katie McCabe saw her eye-catching club campaign with Arsenal duly rewarded with a place on the Women’s Super League team of the season.

The talented Dubliner enjoyed a season of a lifetime in England's top flight, scoring five goals and providing 13 assists for her teammates whilst operating from her mastered, left-back position.

The Republic of Ireland captain was a driving force behind Arsenal’s third place finish in the league, aiding them in securing Champions League football next season with some standout performances. The 25 year old earned rave reviews throughout the season as she scored some screamers along the way, whilst proving a constant threat from set pieces with that frightening left foot of hers. McCabe, who signed with the Gunners from Shelbourne in 2015,  saw her brilliant campaign rewarded with a new, long term contract with the London club back in May– news of which coming as no surprise given the leader she has become within the Arsenal set up– a role in which earned her compliments like that of “world-class” from then manager Joe Muntemurro who has since been appointed manager of Juventus Women.

The dead-ball specialist is joined on the team of the season by Arsenal teammate Leah Williamson, whilst Chelsea players accounted for five spots through top scorer Sam Kerr, along with Ann-Katrin Berger, Magdalena Eriksson, Maren Mjelde and Fran Kirby. Manchester City players made up the rest of the team with the league runner ups represented by Sam Mewis, Caroline Weir, Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp.

Also voted Arsenal’s player of the season, McCabe earned her 50th international cap back in April and the Kilnamanagh native will hope to propel her fine form into the forthcoming international clashes with Iceland, as she leads the Girls in Green into the double clash in Reykyjavik on Friday June11th &  Tuesday June 15th as Vera Pauw's team prepare for the World Cup qualifiers in September.

From chipped goals to 30 yards screamers, from a bag full of assists to international milestones and a place on the league's team of the season proving the cherry on top– it’s been a season to remember for Katie McCabe.
