Her Sport has launched the 2023 chapter of the #DoItForHer Campaign on International Day of the Girl.

The #DoItForHer Campaign represents a significant step towards initiating conversations and shedding light on the existing disparities in equality and equity within sport. Her Sport engaged with young girls, aged between 8 and 13, to better understand their perspectives on sports and gender equality. The overwhelming consensus from these conversations is that young girls feel there is a lack of fairness and equality for them in the realm of sports. It is evident that while progress has been made, substantial advancements are still necessary to bridge the existing gap. We believe now is the time to take decisive action and rally behind the hashtag #DoItForHer.

A poignant statement from an 11-year-old girl rings true: "Men are just more important in sport for whatever reason." This sentiment underscores the urgency to challenge such perceptions and work towards a world where young girls are empowered and treated as equals. Today, on the occasion of #InternationalDayOfTheGirl, we stand united in our commitment to #DoItForHer.

Every young girl and boy should feel assured of equal opportunities in sports. At Her Sport, we firmly believe in the power of sports to transform lives and drive gender equality. Sports impart valuable lessons in teamwork, self-reliance, resilience, and confidence, shattering gender stereotypes and promoting inclusivity.

Yet despite the obvious benefits of sport.... 1 in 2 girls will have dropped out of sport by the age of 20 and only 7% of girls meet the recommended physical activity levels.

Her Sport exists to change this and we're calling for your support. Here's how you can contribute:

1. Share the Campaign: Spread the word and showcase your support for gender equality by sharing this campaign and using #DoItForHer

2. Share a picture of your "her" using the hashtag #DoItForHer and tag Her Sport on social media.
