Para-archer Kerrie Leonard has her sights set on the upcoming European Games in Rotterdam, where she has the opportunity to secure a qualification place for the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Leonard most recently competed in the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships, which ran from the 8th to 17th of July. Unfortunately Leonard finished in 17th place, missing out on the qualification spot. In order to qualify Leonard would have needed to secure 12th place.

Leonard started archery at the age of 12, after being introduced to the sport by her uncle. Her competitive career began at the age of 21. Since then she has represented Ireland at the last three World Archery Championships.

Having missed out on qualification for the 2016 Rio Paralympics, and following a lengthy qualification process disrupted by Covid-19, Leonard represented Ireland at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
