Grace Conway Dowling, Ava Henry, and Kyla Doyle Byrne will each have a chance at a gold medal Sunday (April 14) after winning their respective semi-finals at the European youth boxing championships in Porec, Croatia.

Two-time European medallist Conway Dowling (Tredagh BC) defeated Italy's Madalina Grabucea 4-1 in the 52kg semi-final to secure at least a silver, with the bout scored 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 28-29. The Louth boxer will face Ukraine's Taisiia Pokusai in Bout 3 of the afternoon session on Sunday.

Team co-captain Ava Henry (Dublin Dockland BC) was dominant in her 63 kg semi-final against Poland's Kinga Krowka with a 5-0 win (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-26). It will be another Ukraine-Ireland matchup in the final when she meets Yulia Stupakova in Bout 6 Sunday afternoon.

Kyla Doyle Byrne (Whitechurch BC) had precisely the same scorecard as Henry for her semi-final, defeating Italian Annamaria Del Giorno 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-26 in competition for the 66kg silver. She'll attempt to upgrade that against Romania's Amalia Tugui in the gold final Sunday (Bout 7).
