Sarah Lavin and Sarah Healy are among the Irish athletes who will compete in the latest Diamond League outing in Doha, Qatar.

Coverage of the competition will start at 5pm Irish time on Virgin Media 2, with a feast of action in store for onlookers.

Healy will participate in the women’s 1500m come 7:34 pm local time or 5:34 pm Irish time, while Lavin will be racing in the 100m Women’s Hurdles at 8:18 pm local time, or 6:18 pm Irish time.

Both face a stacked lineup of contenders in their individual pursuits.

For example, Lavin will look to build on her phenomenal form as of late, in which she’s racked up a PB and Irish record of 12.62.

Blocking her way to victory however are athletes such as America’s Amber Hughes, Alaysha Johnson and Tonea Marshall, Denmark’s Emma Beiter Bomme, Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambunji, Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, and the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser.

The Limerick woman’s current PB stands at 0.2 seconds behind that of the favourites’ Marshall, with only her, and the duo of Visser and Skrzyszowska (with PBs of 12.51) with a better time than Lavin within the proposed line up.

Elsewhere, Healy comes into this meet with a PB of 3:59.68 in the 1,500m.

The current time to beat amongst her competitors PB’s in this race lies at 3:53.93, set by Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji.

Back in March, Lavin recorded yet another PB, that time in a 60m Hurdles heat at the World Indoor Championships. There she ran a 7.90, and later secured fifth place overall in the final.

Meanwhile, Healy put up a 4:03.83 to smash the Irish indoor 1,500 metres record back in February, amazingly just one week after she broke Mary Cullen’s national senior indoor record over 3,000m in Metz.

Both will surely aim to use this competition as a springboard for the fast approaching European Championships at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy from the 7th to the 12th of June , before looking ahead to the Olympics.
