Despite Japan's 2-1 exit to Sweden in their quarterfinal, Hinata Miyazawa has won the Golden Boot at this Women's World Cup, with five goals in five games played.
As the 23-year-old was not present at Sunday's final — which saw Spain defeat England 1-0 — Miyazawa will receive her award soon.
She is the second Japanese player to win the award at a Women's World Cup, after Homare Sawa in 2011.
Miyazawa, who plays for Mynavi Sendai, scored two goals in Japan's opening game against Zambia. After only playing briefly in the next win, over Costa Rica, she again scored twice in Japan's final group stage match, a 4-0 win against eventual champions Spain.
Miyazawa scored her fifth and final goal of the tournament in Japan's 3-1 victory over Norway.
Four players ended the tournament with four goals: France's Kadidiatou Diani, Germany's Alexandra Popp, the Netherlands' Jill Roord, and Sweden's Amanda Ilestedt.
