Leona Maguire will face World no. 1 Nelly Korda in the T-Mobile Match Play final Sunday at Shadow Creek golf course in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maguire defeated Sei Young Kim 3 and 2 in the semi-finals, while Korda dispatched Narin An 4 and 3.

The Cavan golfer was three strokes clear of the field when she headed into quarterfinals, where she defeated Moriya Jutanugarn 4 and 3 while American Korda made the semis after beating Angel Yin 3 and 2.

If Korda wins she will have achieved her fourth straight LPGA win — a feat not achieved since Lorena Ochoa in 2008. The all-time record is five, set by Nancy Lopez in 1978 and repeated by Annika Sorenstam across 2004 and 2005.

"Nelly is the best in the world right now," said Maguire. "She's on a really hot streak. It's incredibly impressive what she's been doing in the past few weeks."

"It's going to be a really tough battle tomorrow. I've got a big challenge ahead of me. I'm excited. I mean, that's why you practice. You want to play the best players in the world and that's what Nelly is."

Meanwhile, "I know she's going to be fiery," is what Korda said of her opponent.

"That's just how Leona is. She's a great competitor. I think it'll be great to share the stage with her, and hopefully it'll be a good show."
